Website use

Website terms

These terms explain how this portfolio and service website may be used. They do not replace a signed proposal or project contract.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

Important distinction

These are terms for using the public website. Scope, payment, delivery, ownership, warranties and support for client work are agreed separately in writing.

1. Using this website

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the website. You must also follow any law that applies to your use of the website.

This website is operated by Bernard Bassey, a software engineer providing website, mobile app, software and training services from Nigeria to local and international clients.

2. Purpose of the website

The website provides information about services, skills, published work, availability and ways to make contact. It may also include articles, general guidance, pricing context and answers to common questions.

The content is intended to help visitors decide whether to start a conversation. It is not professional legal, financial, tax or regulatory advice and should not be treated as a substitute for advice suited to your circumstances.

3. Website content is not a project contract

Nothing on this website creates a client relationship, employment relationship, partnership, agency or obligation to accept a project. Sending an enquiry does not guarantee availability, a particular price, a delivery date or acceptance of the work.

A project begins only after the parties agree the necessary written terms. Depending on the work, these may include a proposal, statement of work, contract, invoice, milestone plan or another written confirmation.

4. Content and accuracy

Reasonable care is taken to keep the website useful and accurate. However, service descriptions, availability, technology references, examples, estimated timelines and general pricing information can change. Content may contain an error or become outdated.

You should confirm any information that is important to a decision before relying on it. The website may be updated, corrected, reorganised or removed without prior notice.

5. Portfolio work and testimonials

Portfolio entries are intended to show the type of work completed and the thinking behind it. Live third-party projects may change after publication because a client, store platform, hosting provider or another developer updates them.

Logos, product names, screenshots and trademarks belonging to clients or third parties remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance in the portfolio does not imply that Bernard owns those brands.

Testimonials are published with attribution supplied or approved for publication. They describe an individual client's experience and do not guarantee that another project will achieve the same outcome.

6. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the website design, original copy, code created specifically for this website, graphics and branding are owned by Bernard Bassey or used with permission. You may view and share links to public pages for ordinary personal or business reference.

You may not copy substantial parts of the website, republish its content as your own, reproduce its design for resale, remove ownership notices, scrape it at a harmful scale or use its content to misrepresent an association without written permission.

Ownership and licensing for commissioned client work are governed by the written agreement for that project, not by these website terms.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, server, accounts or connected systems.
  • Introduce malware, harmful code, automated abuse or excessive requests.
  • Use the contact form for spam, phishing, harassment, unlawful offers or misleading messages.
  • Interfere with security, availability or another visitor's use of the website.
  • Collect personal information from the website in a way that violates privacy or other applicable law.
  • Use website content to impersonate Bernard Bassey or falsely claim a business relationship.

Access may be restricted or blocked where misuse, security risk or unlawful activity is reasonably suspected.

9. Enquiries, estimates and quotations

Information submitted through the contact page should be accurate enough to understand the request. An early estimate or conversation is not a final quotation unless it is clearly described as one.

A quotation can change if requirements, assumptions, content, integrations, delivery responsibilities or timelines change. Any deposit, milestone, cancellation, revision, expense, tax, currency or refund terms should be stated in the relevant proposal or agreement.

10. Website availability

Reasonable efforts are made to keep the website available and secure, but continuous or error-free access is not promised. Hosting maintenance, internet failures, security work, provider outages or circumstances outside reasonable control may interrupt access.

Features, pages and contact methods may be changed or discontinued where necessary.

11. Disclaimers

The website and its general content are provided on an as-available basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no implied promise is made that every page will always be complete, current, suitable for a particular purpose or free from technical issues.

SEO content describes practices that can improve technical quality and search visibility. No specific search position, traffic level, revenue result or business outcome is guaranteed.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Bernard Bassey will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising solely from use of, inability to use, or reliance on this public website or an external link.

Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability connected with paid client services is addressed by the written agreement governing those services.

13. Responsibility for misuse

You are responsible for your own unlawful or unauthorised use of the website. Where permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for reasonable loss or cost caused by your deliberate breach of these terms, infringement of another person's rights or harmful interference with the website.

14. Privacy and cookies

Use of personal information is explained in the privacy policy. Information about cookies and future analytics tools is provided in the cookie policy.

15. Applicable law

These website terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, subject to any mandatory consumer or other rights that apply in your country and cannot legally be excluded.

Before beginning formal proceedings about website use, the parties should first make a reasonable effort to resolve the issue through direct written communication.

16. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the website, services or legal requirements change. The revised date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means the new terms apply from their stated effective date.

17. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@bernardbassey.com. For project enquiries, use the contact page or the WhatsApp option shown on the website.
